Cards and pigtails…. and a missing tooth!

I apologize for being MIA. My baby turned 2 last week and school has started to become more demanding. I have several cards to share, plus pics of my darling Maddie in her first ever pigtails. I can’t believe she is 2 already. Where does the time go?!?!?! And to make me feel even MORE sad about my babies growing up, Justin lost his first tooth last night!!!

First, the cute kid pics:

Ok, on to cards:

Here is a card I made for a bridal shower I attended last weekend. The two backgrounds together are awesome and I know I saw someone pair them up on SCS, but I cannot remember who did it. If you haven’t tried them together, you should!!!

Bridal Shower Floral

Stamps: Floral BG, Polka Dot BG, All Holidays
Ink: Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Accessories: Large & Small Oval Punches, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon

Here is a card we made at my last Stamp-A-Stack. I used the Slit Punch to make the scallops along the edge of the card stock. Brilliant (and NOT my idea)! I cased this card from caspen1973 on CSC. You can see that card here.

Birthday SAS Enjoy Every Moment

Stamps: Enjoy Every Moment
Ink: Old Olive, Groovy Guava, So Saffron
Paper: Old Olive, Groovy Guava, So Saffron, Whisper White
Accessories: Old Olive 5/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon, Slit Punch

One more! This is one I made for my husband, using the Cheers To You stamp set available in the UK SU! catalog. I had a very nice demo friend in the UK send me this set in a trade. It rocks! And no, you don’t need to adjust your eyes. The sentiment really *is* crooked. I had this whole stinkin’ card made and was so happy with it, but then decided to add “Happy Birthday” at the last minute. Of course, I screwed it up and didn’t have time to fix it. So please, do not make an appt. with your eye doctor!

Bart’s Birthday Card 08

Stamps: Cheers To You (only available in the UK)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Staz-On Timber Brown
Paper: DP from At Home Simply Scrappin’ Kit, Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Accessories: Round Tab Punch, Stickles (for the head on the beer)

I solemnly vow not to stay away for weeks again. I have been a bad, bad blogger, but I do have more cards to post!!!

Time Well Spent….

Time Well Spent

Stamps: Time Well Spent, Sanded BG
Ink: Bashful Blue, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Accessories: Dimensionals, White Taffeta Ribbon, Signo White Gel Pen

Stampin’ Up! demonstrators received a surprise in the mail from our company! It was this Level 3 Hostess set Time Well Spent from the new catalog, which will be out on January 2nd. I used this set to make this card for my BFF Shannon. Since Justin has started Kindergarten, we haven’t been able to get together as often as we did when he was in preschool and I wanted her to know that I miss her.

This is a really fun set to color. I used my SU! markers to do all of the coloring on this card. The sayings that go with this set are so cute!

Speaking of time well spent….

Tile backsplash

Tile backsplash 2

***Edited to add:
I have had a number of people email me to find out where I purchased my tile. To make it easier for those of you who may also want to know, I’m putting the information here. Here is the link to the site I purchased from:

The tile I selected is the Giorbello Tesserae Blends (Amber Glow) and the item number is G2733. Here is a direct link to the tile:

I tiled my kitchen backsplash!! Ok, I have to give a HUGE shout out to my tiling mentor, Eric, and his lovely wife Shannon. Shannon helped me find the tile online and was nice enough to spare Eric for an evening after work so he could show me how to do this. Thank you both SO much!!! I also have to thank my mom who set me straight on choosing grout color. Thanks, Mom, for always having the best ideas. And of course, I have to thank my husband who was my assistant while I was grouting and helped me clean up everything. I absolutely *love* how it turned out. I am really proud of myself for tackling this. I know to some people it would be second nature, but not to me. I am NOT a handy type of person. I’m also a perfectionist, which prevents me from doing things like this myself because I know I won’t do it as well as a professional would. It’s amazing what needing to save a little money can do for that problem, though! I couldn’t be happier with it. Oh, and grouting is a yucky, messy job!

I am sure by now you’ve all seen the retiring list from Stampin’ Up! (especially if you are one of my customers, since I sent this list out to you on Saturday), so I am not going to post it here. I was a little surprised by some of the sets on the list, Bundle of Joy and the alphabet sets in particular. I am also very sad to see Frosty go. He’s such a cutie!

I hope you all have a chance to have some time that is well spent this week! And by that, I mean playing with your stamps, ink, and paper!

All In The Family

As some of you may know, Stampin’ Up! is donating the proceeds from the sales of the set All In The Family during the month of November to the family of Dave Abbott. Click here to see a picture of this stamp set.

Here are the details:

Dave Abbott, Stampin’ Up!’s Australia general manager, passed away on Thursday, October 18. His untimely passing left behind his wife and three small children. While we understand that no amount of money can compensate his family for their loss, we at Stampin’ Up! also understand that Dave’s unique and personal contributions in Australia have helped make Stampin’ Up! what it is. Dave was one of our own, and we are committed to doing what can be done to support his family through their loss.

As an extra incentive to raise money for this family, I am offering the All In The Family set to my customers for 20% off the price of the stamp set.

All you need to do is email me at with your order. I am able to take Paypal, checks, or credit cards. I would like to thank those of you who have already contacted me to order this set. I can’t imagine such a tragedy happening to my own family.

Anniversary Roses

My husband is not the most romantic man in the world. He doesn’t write love letters, bring me flowers unexpectedly, or that type of thing. What he does do is make me feel like the most beautiful and lucky woman in the world. He has given me everything I always wanted and more. We celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary on November 3rd. On Friday, the 2nd, he came home from work with these roses. He explained that I was getting them a day early because he didn’t want to pay delivery charges. Like I said, not what you would consider a “typical” romantic. I sat the roses down on the kitchen table and saw that there were 6 red roses and 2 pink ones:

Anniversary Roses

The 6 red roses were for our 6 wonderful years of marriage and the 2 pink roses were for our 2 wonderful children. I bawled. Like a baby. Those 8 roses meant so much more to me than 8 dozen roses ever could have. My husband isn’t what most would consider romantic, but he knows how to make me feel special and he makes me so extremely happy. Almost everything good in my life has come through him. He is so patient with me (and Lord knows I need it!) and is truly my best friend. I couldn’t have asked for a better husband for myself or a better father for our children. I love you, babe!

Bart’s wolf pumpkin carving

I couldn’t bring myself to spend $40-$50 for costumes for the kids. Maddie won’t remember this at all and Justin just wanted to be a police officer. Simple enough. I needed something they could wear over their winter coats because we do live in Minnesota, after all! It was cold and windy and Maddie didn’t get to go out with her brother because she refused to leave her hat on. I wouldn’t have cared, but like I said, it was C-O-L-D! I had to include the picture of one of the pumpkins my husband carved with Justin this year. Ok, Bart carved it and Justin just watched and told him how disgusting the insides of the pumpkin were.

I am so severely behind on posting that I can’t even make up any excuses! How pathetic is that?!?! I am going to be posting more posts today, but will schedule them to run a few days apart. That way I can give the appearance of being on top of things. Yeah, right. I am, however, more than half way through with my Christmas shopping. Yay, me! Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. I’ll be scrapping/stamping some Christmas gifts, but as soon as those are done, I plan to post some of the Halloween pages I’ll be working on. Hopefully you’ll see those before Easter 🙂

I’m still here!

I just wanted to add a quick post to let you know I am still around! Things have been a little crazy around the Kersteter household as we get into the swing of having a child in elementary school. Trying to get Justin out to the bus (he’s in p.m. kindergarten) is proving to be a bigger challenge than I thought. I seriously have to start feeding him lunch at 10:45! He is just soooo pokey! We are slowly starting to get into a routine. I’m going to be finishing the calendar pages for my upcoming Calendar Class this week and weekend. I’m expecting the man in brown to show up with my goodies for my upcoming Stamp A Stack on Thursday, too. I’ll be posting those designs either this weekend or next week. Thank you for hanging in there with me and I promise I’ll be back with some eye candy (and maybe even some BLOG CANDY) this week! More details will follow…….
