Cards for my first Stampin’ Up event

I am posting the three cards we will be making at the Spring Fling event my upline, Tracy, and her friend Donna are putting on. This is the first time I’ve designed cards for others to make, so I’m a little nervous. I didn’t want to make them too complicated (which is how I tend to make my own cards sometimes). What do you think? Do you think people will want to make these cards? I need some feedback! ***Edited to add: I should’ve explained the “stamping station” a little better. This is not a full-blown workshop. It is an area set up at an all day crop for people to come to make a few cards. There is a very minimal charge.***

Blog Candy Reminder!

Just a quick note to remind everyone that I will be giving away some blog candy when I reach 5,000 hits!!! I can tell you it involves a stampingbella stamp, some ribbon, some Michael’s famous $1 rubber stamps AND some of the Michael’s $1 acrylic stamp packages. I’ll take a picture and post tomorrow. Today I am busying preparing for the 30 guests I have coming over at 4:00 to celebrate Miss Madelyn’s first birthday. Her birthday is actually tomorrow, but we’re having the party today. I will post directions on how to win the blog candy as soon as I reach the 5,000 mark. Thank you to all of you who take time out of your day to visit my blog!

Birthday cards!

I have received a few packages from the man in brown this week from Stampin’ Up. I think I may be mounting stamps for the rest of my life!!! I picked out Eat Cake and decided to use the little “eat cake” sentiment for Maddie’s first birthday card. I’ve also decided that I will start including the “ingredients” I used when making my cards. Most of the other blogs I visit do this and it really is nice to see. The first card up is Madelyn’s birthday card….

Maddie’s first bday card

Stamps: Eat Cake (sentiments), Birthday Beauty (crown), Bundle of Joy (teddy bear)

Ink: Pixie Pink, Close to Cocoa, Timber Brown Stazon

Paper: Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, Pixie Pink

The other card I made is for my grandmother’s 85th birthday. Her birthday is March 25th and Maddie’s is March 26th. Since her birthday is on a Monday, we are having her big party on Sunday.

Kudos to Making Memories!!!

I am sure many of you who read my blog are well aware of the company Making Memories. They have some of the most awesome paper crafting products on the market. I took all of the classes they were offering at CKU, just because of their reputation for awesome product and their generosity in giving away said product. Well, they have impressed me once again. I received one of their precision trimmers as a gift several months back. I was so excited to get it, because I never really could love my Fiskars purple Euro trimmer. I was constantly replacing the blades on that thing and they are not cheap! The MM precision trimmer is self-sharpening. So all of the money saved from not having to buy new blades can be spent buying more paper!!! Ok, back to the main point here. I could never really get a straight cut with my trimmer. I honestly thought it was just me. Then my friend Shannon told me about something her friend Terri told her….that Archiver’s pulled all of these trimmers because they had so many customer complaints about crooked cutting. But, since I did not have a receipt of any sort, I didn’t think I could really do anything about it. Which was too bad, because I really loved this trimmer. Well, except for the part about it cutting crooked, which is kind of a big deal in paper crafting. So, I decide to contact Making Memories customer service. I get a response from one of their reps, Jana, who told me they would happily replace my trimmer once I was able to provide them with proof that I did, in fact, own one of their trimmers. She warned me that it may take 4 to 5 weeks, since the trimmers had been very in demand since fixing whatever problem it had. That was on March 9th. Guess what the Fed Ex man dropped off at my house late yesterday afternoon??? You got it….. my new trimmer!! My husband got it out of the package (after being quite relieved that the box was not full of scrapbooking items that I purchased) and I played with it for a few minutes. Cuts like buttah! And, more importantly, it appears to cut straight!!!! Woo hoo!!! Gotta love Making Memories for their awesome product and their even more awesome customer service!!! I am one happy camper!

Soooooo Sick!

I am sorry I’ve been MIA. I started getting sick on Thursday with some sort of cold and it progressed into much nastiness (and because I actually want you to come back again, I won’t disgust you with the details) by Friday night. I was supposed to help host a baby shower on Saturday and ended up having to miss that. I did manage to put together the two dishes I was responsible for on Friday night and my husband ran them over to my mil’s house on Saturday morning. I am still not fully on the mend, but I think I’m getting there. I wanted to post the cards I promised I would, plus the baby shower card I made. Now, I know I could’ve sent my husband to Target to pick up a card but I specifically order this Bundle of Joy stamp set to make this card and dang it, I was gonna use it!!! I dragged my *very* sickly self out of bed to put this card together. Not my best, but it turned out better than I expected, considering my condition. Since I have done little more than sleep or lay on the couch this weekend, I don’t have any other news. My post count is getting closer to 5,000 and I am going to do some more blog candy once I hit it. I’ve been to Michael’s and stocked up on the $1 stamps, and as promised, I will be including a Stampingbella stamp! Keep checking in! I hope none of you get what I’ve had!

As I said previously, Justin picked out the stamps we used on his card for his Daddy. He also picked out the ink color and after noticing the stapler on my table, decided we needed to add some ribbon to the card. As for my card (U are the best), I’ve decided it’s really hard to make cards for men. My instinct is usually to add ribbon of some sort, but my husband is *not* a ribbon kind of guy. I went very simple with this. And of course, there’s the Bundle of Joy card. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at that stamp set quite the same.

I’m official!

As some of you know, I’ve decided to take the plunge and become a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. Several things came in to play as I contemplated this decision and I honestly had been considering it for some time. My very dear friend Shannon and I were having a conversation a few weeks ago. It went something like this….

Dianne: “I have quite an extensive wish list for SU! stuff!”

Shannon: “Why don’t you become a demonstrator?”

Ok, it wasn’t quite that simple, but it was the impetus I needed to begin seriously considering this. I love Stampin’ Up products and have been in a club with my friend Tracy going on three years now. I also love to teach and prior to becoming pregnant with my daughter Maddie, was teaching classses at a local scrapbook store. I really enjoyed it, but ended up being really sick during the first six months of my pregnancy and had to quit. I also like to entertain and thought having stamp camps and stamp-a-stacks at my house would be a lot of fun. I received word yesterday that I am now “official”. I’ve got a demonstrator number and access to the website. Now I’m dangerous 😉

I will be spending the next couple of months learning the ropes from my new upline, Tracy. I am planning to have my first workshop in May, courtesy of Shannon. I will then be holding an open house in June. I will keep you all updated with dates, etc.

Today is my husband’s 38th birthday. Justin and I already have his birthday cake in the oven, so we can frost it this afternoon when he gets home from preschool. Last night Justin and I worked in my craft room, stamping a birthday card from him and Maddie. If I can stamp with him, I can surely stamp with anybody!!! It turned out cute and he picked out all of the stamps, the ink, the cardstock color, and the placement of the stamps. I’ll try to post a pic of it later today. I need to make a birthday card from me later this afternoon and will post that, too. Thanks for hanging in there, as I know I haven’t posted a lot in the past week. I did get my midterm back and was pleased to see I got an “A”. In all honesty, it wasn’t that difficult of a test.

Be back later tonight or tomorrow morning with a post of some birthday cards. I also have a baby shower card to make for my husband’s cousin’s wife. I won’t have that made until Friday night, though, because I’m waiting for my Bundle of Joy stamp set. If you haven’t seen it, check out the Stampin’ Up website and look at the Spring Mini catalog. It is chock full of cute stamps!!!

A glimpse of my life

Jen del Muro had this little ditty on her blog, i{heart}2stamp and gave the okay to copy and use it. I decided since I don’t have any eye candy for you, I thought maybe I’d tell you a little bit about myself. If you fall asleep while reading it, hit your head on your keyboard and injure yourself, I am not responsible 😀

Currently In My CD Player:
The Killers (Hot Fuss), Dixie Chicks (Taking the Long Way), The Fray, Bon Jovi (Cross Road)–hey, I grew up in the ’80’s and in case you missed it….Jon Bon Jovi is *still* hot!!!

Last Movie{s} Watched:
Syriana and Charlotte’s Web

What I’m Wearing:
White long sleeved tee, black workout pants

Favorite TV Show:
Hands down….. Grey’s Anatomy. I also watch Heroes, American Idol, ER, and As The World Turns. Don’t laugh.

Last Time At a Restaurant & What I Ordered:
Went to dinner with my friend Kristine on Monday night to this really awesome restaurant in St. Paul called Everest. I had chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. We also shared some momos, which are sort of like pot stickers. Yum!

Book I’m Reading:
The AACR2, which is the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, second edition revised. I also have The Devil Wears Prada sitting on my nightstand. Haven’t started it yet, but I better cuz the library wants it back. Imagine the nerve…a library student keeping a book past its due date!

My Favorite Indulgence:
As far as food goes, I’d say just about anything ooey gooey with chocolate. Non-food indulgences include going to get my hair cut and highlighted, shopping, and sleeping in. I have yet to actually get to sleep in since having children, but hope to know what that feels like again someday.

Latest Thing That Made Me Happy:
Watching Justin trying to play with Maddie. He can be *so* stubborn and icky sometimes, but he is an awesome big brother. Maddie loves him so much. Her face just lights up whenever he is near her.

Latest Thing That Made Me Not-So-Happy:
My two children both waking up at 3:00 a.m. this morning and neither of them wanting to go back to bed. Ugggggggh!

What I Am Looking Forward To Most This Year:
Being home with Maddie and Justin and continuing to watch them grow and change. Justin is starting kindergarten and Maddie is quickly changing from a baby to a toddler.
