Jumpin’ on the Blog Candy bandwagon!!!

I have seen some great blog candy giveaways in the past few weeks and decided I’d like to join in. To celebrate the fact that I’ve made the decision to become a Stampin’ Up demonstrator, I’ve decided to give away a little blog candy of my own. All you need to do is leave a comment for me telling me what your favorite stamping tip or technique is and why. If you can provide a link to a great website or blog you find inspiring (except those I’ve got listed on my blog), I’ll enter your name in the drawing twice. I will do the drawing on Monday evening, the 26th and will post the winner Tuesday morning. The blog candy consists of an alterable band aid tin, a new roll of checked black and white ribbon, a baggie *full* of various Prima flowers, an unopened classic stampin’ spot in Brocade Blue, a new package of Bazzill Really Big Brads in Heidi, and 6 chipboard coasters. I hope to see tons of comments!!!

  1. Hello Dianne…congrats on being a demo…sometimes I think I should just to support my own habit! One site that I find particularly inspiring of late is Godelieve’s: http://stampingmathilda.blogspot.com/. She doesn’t work with SU but she has some really neat layouts, techniques and color choices. A fave technique of mind is masking (even a faux layer!). TFS…let me link to you!

    Hi dianne,

I found your blog by way of Allison’s and thought I’d throw my name in the hat for a little blog candy! My favorite stamping tip is to punch out a piece of paper with all of your punches and keep them in a small notebook that you can throw in your purse when you go shopping because buying duplicate punches, especially from a store that is a long way from your house, is expensive. I speak from experience. So many of them are similar in style and /or size, it’s just easier for me to have something to refer to, just to be sure.

And here is another blog I like:

I’m glad to have found you and I have added you to my Google Reader.

Thanks for sharing such a great blog as well as that awesome blog candy! I think one of my new favorite techniques is faux stitching. I love the effect you get with it!
I love visiting Angela’s blog at http://www.my-rich-life.blogspot.com, she has some great layouts

Hi Dianne – my favorite technique is distressing. Not sure if that counts as a “stamping” technique or not – but its my favorite and i use it on nearly every card; sponging the edges and distressing (or vice-versa).

One of my favorite blogs that you don’t have listed is Cindy’s “My Inky Fingers” blog (http://stampalicious.typepad.com/).

Thanks for sharing – have a great weekend!!

  6. Congrats on becoming a demo! I just reached my 6 month anniversary and haven’t once regretted the decision. 😀 One of my favorite techniques is using Prismacolor pencils with Gamsol and paper stumps. Asela Hopkins just posted a beautiful tutorial on coloring with pencils. http://hopartstudios.typepad.com/

  8. Great Candy! And congrats on your decision!

My best tip is to keep the things you use the most and love the most close at hand… you don’t wanna waste time searching for things that you use regularly!

http://www.nuttnhoney.net/GreatTutorials.html….great site for tons of techniques. I love the alcohol ink background technique. 2 wonderful blogs are http://sweetmissdaisy.typepad.com/….Anna Wights and Cindy Keery’s at http://imagine-dream-create.blogspot.com/. Welcome to the SU! family.

  10. Claudia

Congratulations on becoming a SU demonstrator! My favorite tip is to get everything you think you’re going to need out before you start a project. I always end up with fingers full of ink and then have to go digging for something I needed.
A favorite place for inspiration is twopeasinabucket.com

  11. Great contest – Congrats on becoming a demonstrator!! You will have so much fun! I think my favorite technique is just watercolor . . . even though I am no good at it, I don’t seem to get a nice blended look like others do, but I still have fun!!

  12. I love the direct to paper idea and an item I couldn’t live without is my mat pack by SU….helps me keep things in line….

Oh here is my blog to check out:

    Congratulations on becoming a demo!

My latest is the Stampin Pastels (chalks). My favourite so far is stamping an image with Versamark and then using some cotton to grab the pastels and brush over the versamark image. Sue, my current demo, showed this technique and 2 seconds after I bought the chalks!!!

As for blogs, Cindy has an excellent site.

  16. hi, congrats on being a demo. I am a demo too & I always post my club projects (will be creating the next one soon) so if you ever see any you like and have any questions I’ll be more than happy to help. Otherwise for a tip I use my punches to punch out the small pieces then put them in one of those clear containers but my desk so I actually use them! A good blog to view is Cindy’s at http://imagine-dream-create.blogspot.com/ she always has new projects and other neat stuff posted.

Thanks for the chance at your yummy blog candy!!!

  17. Wow! What wonderful blog candy!!! Your going to make someone’s day!

Right now my favorite stamping technique is marker to stamp. I love how I can get many different colors on one stamp. I love the look of it.

  20. Congrats on becoming a demo Dianne, I just joined too…got my kit about a week ago. I don’t know if I necessarily have a favorite technique because I don’t rally have a lot of supplies at the moment but I love embellishing the heck out of things. Glitter, ribbons, eyelets, it doesn’t matter.
Also I love Elsie Flannigans blog, elsieflannigan.blogspot.com. She has a new line coming out that looks super cute!

  21. Tina

Congrats on becoming a SU demo! I just started stamping to quit smoking . . . and it worked !!! I quit! hmmm my favorite stamping technique is . . .the kissing technique. I just learned this last week at SU make n take at my demo’s house. LOVE the effect it gives no matter what bkgd you use. I was gonna post SCS that is where I hang out and learn so much . . . but you have it already listed.
Can’t wait to see who wins!!!

  22. Tip: Keep your work area clean…you’ll get more done if you can find your papers/tools faster!

If you don’t have this blog on your list…you don’t know what you are missing!

Right now, my favorite technique is bleaching, but that is because my daughter and I are just learning how to do it. I want to learn how to make cracked glass. Thanks for sharing blog candy with us.

  25. Here’s a link to a great stamping blog: http://www.littlepinkflowers.typepad.com/

    Her cards are gorgeous!

  26. Jennifer Speanburg

Wow, you have a great blog! My favorite technique, at least this week, is making those adorable jumbo paper clip bookmarks! One of the blogs I check everyday is http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/ I love her ideas and the way she photographs them.

    Jennifer S

  27. Good luck with your new career. I’m not a big stamper but i guess my favouties technique is to stamp flowers on patterned paper and cut them out. I wrote a post on my blog on Making Coordinating Flowers, using stamps.

  28. Currently, my favorite technique is polished stone… I’ve only done it a couple of times & definitely want to create a lot more with it! Also, here is one of my favorite blogs.. http://icingonthecard.typepad.com/icing_on_the_card/ I think it would be great to meet Emily Gunnell in person – she’s so much fun!

  29. tyrymom29

Congrats on becoming a new demo!!!! My favorite technique is still the shaving cream …….Just like the diff effect you get ….its easy too …lol.TFS!!!!!!

  30. WOW! I just found your blog and was tickled pink to read about your blog candy. I too am giving away blog candy this week and it includes an alterable band-aid tin and primas!! So funny! I guess great minds think alike, right?

Here’s my tip: Have lots of little ribbon scraps? Separate them into small 3×3 ziptop baggies, punch a hole in the bottom corner and hang them on loose-leaf binder rings according to color. Easy to grab the color family you want, clear bags are easy to see through, and all those smaller, yet useful pieces don’t get lost!

Thanks for making your blog so fun. I will definietly be returning.
    Dana
