I’ve been playing!

Here are the cards I made while playing up in my craft room today. I’ve got to decide which of the birthday cards I’m going to make for the card club I’m in. I must say that the more I use those Cuttlebug embossing folders, the more I {heart} them!!!

OMG! CHA Cuttlebug stuff!

If you haven’t seen all of the new CHA products coming out for the Cuttlebug, you *need* to check it out. They have new embossing folders, new dies, etc. I have already added to my “Cuttlebug Wish List”! I thought I was doing pretty well, since I have *all* of the embossing folders that I like (which is most of them). Then they had to go and make a bunch more!!! And to top that off, my husband has decided I need to be on a scrapbook budget. That’s right, I get a scrapbook allowance. I know I shouldn’t complain because I’m lucky in that I’ve been able to buy pretty much whatever I want (within reason). So now I have to keep track of my spending. What a scary thought. I’m sure my friends at all of the online stores I frequent will wonder what’s become of me. It’s a sad, sad day. And of course, it had to happen *right* before the CHA products are released! Rumor has it the Cuttlebug items won’t be hitting the stores until April. I may have to save up some of my allowance for that 😀

If you’d like to see the new Cuttlebug products, you can go to the Provo Craft website and check it out. I will warn you, though, this little green machine is addicting. Just ask my friends Tracy and Shannon. They know all about the bug!!!

In other news, my little boy left yesterday afternoon for Florida with my mom and dad. They are taking Justin and my niece Grace to Disney World. It was a really tough decision for me to let him go. I wanted to be the one to take him on his first plane ride and to Disney for the first time. It was really hard to let him go. I guess I started thinking about how he would feel, knowing they were going to take Grace and he was left home. I knew it would break his heart. So, he’s gone and my house is quiet. Well, at least when Maddie is napping anyway! I miss him terribly. I’ll try to remember this feeling when he gets home and starts acting up (and I feel like strangling him).

I’ve gotten a bunch of stamp sets in the past few weeks and have some card making to do. I’ll be playing and posting some of my creations later tonight, so check back! Have a good one…..

A quick card

babyshowercard2.jpg

I made this card for my cousin who is having a baby girl in February. I absolutely *love* the Wild About You stamp set. I CASED the idea from stampinsam on SCS. I made a similar card for my friend Kristine who just had a baby boy. The embossing was done with my handy dandy (sorry, we watch too much Blues Clues in this house) Cuttlebug with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder. I’ve gotten most of my Cuttlebug items from Oh My Crafts. They have great customer service and have a sale pretty much every week. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter, as that is how they notify you of their sales.

I did it!!!

First layout of Maddie First layout of Maddie 2

I *finally* scrapped something for my beautiful daughter Maddie’s scrapbook!!! I am so happy! I went on a 12 hour crop yesterday with my friend Shannon. My main objective was to complete my husband’s calendar. Yes, his 2007 calendar. The one that was *supposed* to be part of his Christmas present. Don’t worry….I feel plenty of guilt. I had so much going on at the end of the year that I just didn’t get to this. I made a calendar for my dad and that *had* to be done, so my husband was gracious enough to tell me it was okay if I didn’t finish his in time. Whew! This was the third year I’ve made a calendar for him and I know how much he enjoys looking at it while he’s at work. Thanks, babe, for understanding and being so patient. Must be how you’re able to stay married to me!

Ok, so I went to the Timberwolves game on Friday night and didn’t start packing up for my crop until I got home at 10:30 p.m. I left Saturday morning with half my scrap room and *still* managed to forget something. I brought my trusty Cuttlebug with me (and *all* of the embossing folders and dies I’ve acquired) because I was going to be cutting out a bunch of Quickutz shapes to use on Bart’s calendar. I get to the hotel where the crop is being held and realize I didn’t bring the stinkin’ Quickutz binder. Duh!!! I called my darling husband and ever-so-politely asked if he and the kids would like to take a field trip. I received a less-than-enthusiastic response. So, I decided since it was *my* mistake, I’d do everything for the calendar and add the Quickutz later.

It took me most of the day and night to put the calendar together, including stamping the names of the months. The good news is that I only have to add the Quickutz embellishments and it is D-O-N-E. The bad news is that it will take me a while to get those shapes cut out. Not nearly as long as it would have, had I not purchased my wonderful little green Bug. That’s what I’ll be doing today. That and watching football. GO COLTS!!!! I absolutely adore Peyton Manning. His commercials are so funny. The man must have a great sense of humor. And he’s a heck of a quarterback, too. I’m cheering for the Colts to go all the way and win the big one this year. I’d love to see Tony Dungy get a Super Bowl ring. Besides, I can’t stand the Bears.

Ok, enough sports talk. After I finished what I could of my husband’s calendar, I took out some pics of Maddie in the bath tub and decided that’s what I’d scrap first. The hospital pictures are so important that I wanted to start with something a little more fun and whimsical. I used the Bohemia pink and brown paper and added light pink, hot pink, and brown Prima daisies. It is *so* cute. I am not quite finished, but will post as soon as it is. I’ve also added an avatar, even though I don’t have a single picture of myself that I don’t hate, because my mommy asked me to.

And for those people who may work for Provo Craft who read my blog, I brought my Cuttlebug to the crop yesterday and caused a frenzy. You should see a spike in sales today. You’re welcome. And if you feel the need to send me some freebies, I’d be happy to supply you with my address.

Easy Altered Band-Aid Tins

I picked up these tins to put gift cards in for a couple of teenage girls. I think they turned out cute and were SO easy. I didn’t use Mod Podge, just regular tape runner adhesive (I use the Scotch brand you can get through 3M). I love this Girly paper by Rob & Bob, too!

My Sanctuary (a.k.a. my scrap room)

I spent some quality time today rearranging and cleaning out my scrap room. My darling husband was kind enough to get some shelving from the hardware store and put it up for me. My room looks so awesome!!! I love it! One of my favorite things I have for organization is the white cart with six plastic drawers in it. The drawers are actually plastic boxes that can be removed and taken with to go cropping. This is one of the best things I’ve ever invested in for scrapbooking. When I’m getting ready for a crop, I put everything I’m going to need for each project I’m working on and put it in one of the boxes. They fit easily into my Mimi wheeled tote. Here are some pics of my room:

Altered Recipe Tin

My friend Kristine was kind enough to take pictures of the recipe tin I made her for Christmas. I made a few of these and they all turned out great, if I may say so myself. These are so fun to make and look great sitting out on the counter in your kitchen. I have yet to make one for myself, but that’s to be expected. I have a scrappin’/stampin’ project list a mile long. I have yet to really get started on my husband’s calendar that was supposed to be for Christmas and it’s almost the middle of January! I start my cataloging class this weekend, so I know play time will be limited for me for a while. I think this class has the potential to kick my a$$ and I’m a little anxious about it. I’m maintaining a 4.0 right now and would really, really like to graduate with that. After the class this semester and the one I’ll take this summer, I will be half way through my Masters in Library and Information Science degree with a license to teach Media in K-12. I will try hard not to bore you with the details of cataloging. I’m sure it’s only fascinating to library geeks like myself.

I digress…. I’m posting the pictures of one of the tins I made and will post the rest when I get the pictures from the people I gave the tins to. I couldn’t have remember to take pics of the projects before I gave them away because that would have been the smart thing to do!

I will say that, for me, the easiest way to apply the paper was to put the Mod Podge directly on the tin and not the paper. I had far less bubbles that way. They have a ton of examples of these in the SCS gallery. Check them out!
